The plan

This famous forcing line sends the queen and knight deep into Black's position. White wins the a8 rook but must calculate the knight's escape carefully.

  • Combine pressure on f7 with Qh5
  • Use Nb5 and Nxc7+ to fork the king and rook
  • Keep the queen active to support the advanced knight

  • The knight on a8 can become trapped
  • Every move in the checking sequence matters; avoid improvising too early
